Availability, communication and convenient locations

Finding out you’re pregnant is an exciting and life-changing moment! Whether it’s your first time or you’ve been down this road before, it’s important to get the best care from the start.

“When you know you’re pregnant, give us a call as soon as possible. We can only take a limited number of expecting mums each month, and we want to make sure you get a spot. We generally see patients around week 8, so let’s get you booked in!”

Patients tell us that our excellent communication skills and availability make all the difference during their pregnancy journey. They feel comfortable asking questions and appreciate that no question is too silly. Our willingness to be just a phone call away is highly valued.

We also offer a variety of hospitals to deliver your baby. Melbourne Mothers are associated with St Vincent’s Private in Fitzroy and Werribee, Frances Perry House north of Melbourne, and Epworth Freemasons in East Melbourne. This means you have the flexibility to choose the location that suits you best, making sure you feel comfortable and confident when the big day arrives.

Just like our delivery options, we also offer consultations from various locations to make it more convenient for you. You can visit us in North Melbourne, Altona North, or Epping. This flexibility ensures you can access our services at a location that suits you best.

Obstetrician Melbourne fees

Your first appointment and beyond

What to bring?

When you come for your first appointment, there are a few essential items you’ll need:

  • Previous medical records: Bring along any health documents or history that might be relevant. This helps us get a complete picture of your health.
  • Medicare card: Make sure you have this with you for any necessary claims.
  • Private health insurance details: We need to know your coverage to make sure everything is in order.
  • List of medications: If you’re on any medication, it’s important we know to provide the best care for you.

Private obstetrician fees?

Sorting out the costs for private obstetric care can be a bit confusing. Here’s a general idea of what you might expect:

  • Initial consultation: Your first visit usually includes a thorough examination and a dating scan. This is an essential step to establish your care plan.
  • Follow-up consultations: These regular check-ups monitor your and your baby’s health, and some of the costs might be reimbursable through Medicare.
  • Planning and management fee: Around the 20-week mark, there’s a fee acknowledging your obstetrician’s availability 24/7. The balance of this fee is typically due at 28 weeks.
  • Delivery fee: This fee is billed directly to your health fund. If you’re self-funded, there might be some out-of-pocket expenses.

“For a detailed fee schedule and to understand what your private health insurance covers, it’s best to give us a call. Remember, there might be extra costs like for ultrasounds and anaesthetists that your insurance might not cover fully. So, always check with your insurance provider and chat with us to get the full picture of potential expenses.”

Give us a call.
